Rainbow
Sunday, December 17th, 2006December 13, 2006. was a typical Wednesday for Nana and Papa. Fairly early in the morning Nana took Papa to the Senior Citizens’ Center to do “Tai Chi Chui”, while she went to The Gym to “workout”. Afterward, Nana picked up Papa, they ran a quick errand and had a fast lunch. Next, Nana joined her Intercessory Prayer Group at our church while Papa did his own study thing.
In the afternoon, from the church they headed off to a small group Bible study meeting in a different section of town. Because Papa had just taken his PD medication, which sometimes makes him a bit light headed for about an hour, Nana was driving.
It was raining lightly, the sky was slightly overcast, but occasionally the sun would periodically peek out between the clouds. Nana and Papa had just turned onto an arterial street headed north. All of a sudden a huge, brilliant, multicolored rainbow emerged in the west and reappeared in the east. Almost as quickly as it started to appear in the west and east, the rainbow then extended all across the sky, making a complete 180 degree semi circle from left to right. The huge rainbow seemed to be creating a tunnel that Nana and Papa were about to enter. It was one of the most brilliant, awe inspiring sights either of them had ever seen. Nana verbally thanked God for giving them a sign of a promise. It was as if something miraculous (physical, mental or spiritual) had just recently occurred, was happening right then or is about to in the not too distant future. PTL.
They slowly approached the magnificent and phenomenal rainbow. It started to fade as they went under it, but it was just as if hey had entered a tunnel. By the time they exited the tunnel, the rainbow had completely disappeared. A stupendous experience that is impossible to adequately put into words. Nana and Papa were both dumbfounded.
Approximately five to ten minutes later they arrived at their destination, and for some reason, by that time the rainbow event was completely blocked from their minds. Papa did not even think about or remember it again until 4 AM Friday morning (34 hours later), and then, in his mind, the sight of that beautiful rainbow was as vivid as when they originally saw it. Why? Was that rainbow a sign? What does God have in store for us?
