A Vision

February 22, 2007

One night, approximately two weeks before Valentines Day, I had a dream, vision or RMS (Restless Mind Syndrome) session or possibly a combination of all three, wherein my wife, Loretta (Nana), and I were walking together, hand in hand through a beautifully forested area carpeted with lush green grass. Gradually we began to enter a brilliantly lit environment which seemed to be anointed and the pathway was becoming a gold paved road. Coming out of nowhere were uplifting and inspiring sounds of heavenly music. Sounds of melodious musical instruments were accompanying choirs of angelic voices floating through the air. The music was like none we had ever heard before. It was “heavenly”. Yet as we listened, it seemed as if at times we could recognize some of the voices. We didn’t know when or where we had heard them but some were familiar.

Awestruck, we continued slowly strolling down the gold pathway, and there appeared through a faint mist, a huge golden throne with radiant beams of light illuminating it. It was surrounded by gardens of golden roses with red tipped petals. The roses also glowed with a brilliant brightness as if invisible spot lights were shining on them.

Jesus in all of His majestic glory was seated on the very comfortable looking throne. He extended his hand and beckoned us toward him. He spoke to us, and we humbly and hesitantly, at first, communicated back. As we talked with Him we asked questions of things we had always wondered about. Things like: why do bad things happen to good people, etc……And He very patiently answered them all. After a while we felt we should continue on our journey and as we did, I looked at the beautiful golden roses and then at Loretta (Nana) and then up at Jesus. He smiled, nodded his head and said, “It’s okay, pick some for her.”

So I very gingerly and carefully picked a bouquet of golden roses and gave it to her, as an expression of not only my love for her, but also Jesus’. When I turned around to thank Jesus, He and the throne with the golden roses surrounding it were gone. Also, we were again in a green forested area and instead of standing on a golden pathway we were standing on green grass. I tried to remember what His answers to all the questions we had asked Him……..but all I could recall was Jesus smiling at us and extending his hand toward us as if he were blessing us. I guess our journey in this part of our life is not yet complete.

The bouquet seemed to be a kind of Communion for us Christians. The golden yellow roses were symbolic of the love and His word we are to spread and the golden deeds we are to perform in HIS name. The red tips of the golden yellow roses are in remembrance of the blood HE lovingly shed for us so we could do this in HIS name.

Later, I discovered that florists do have yellow roses (golden looking) with red tipped petals. They are called “friendship roses”.

No words can adequately describe the beauty of what I saw or how I felt in those brief moments that I think were in heaven.
