About RUBE.COM

Back in the infant days of the internet when paying $35 for a domain name seemed liked a big deal I found my first one after what I thought was a painstakingly hard thing to do. Little did I know how the value of domain names would change over time. Unfortunately domain brokering was never my thing - - I guess I’m more sentimental about holding on to this one (”Rube” is what my dad calls my mom, which is short for her middle name, “Ruby.”). And all the others I have owned have been for much more practical reasons.

I once used this domain for business purposes when I was doing freelance consulting, but for the most part the web site has been dormant and the email addresses used for friends and family that are too lazy to set up their own Hotmail, Yahoo! or Gmail accounts (I’m just kidding you guys).

I used RUBE.COM as my own blog spot for a few weeks and quickly realized that I wasn’t going to be dedicated, cool (or geeky) enough to keep it up to date, especially compared to some of my friends and colleagues who frequent this blog CULTure.

In 2006 my dad, Jim Diede (aka, “Papa”), started writing emails that he originally called “sagas” and emailing them to his kids. We have all dug reading his musings, life stories, creative expressions, etc. so much that I asked him permission to turn RUBE.COM into a blog that would host his writings for other friends and family to enjoy.

The topics are up to Papa. If you are a friend or family member and would like to be able to login and comment on any stories, just email me and I’ll give you the ability to do so.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy!

- Chris Diede
